• YouTube allows videos longer than 15 minutes

YouTube today announced several new features, the most notable being:

    (1) All users with accounts "in good standing" (i.e. no copyright violations etc) can now upload videos longer than the 15-minute limit.

    (2) A new "resumable uploads" function promises to end the frustration of uploading 98% of your video only to have it fail. Although the previous advanced uploader claimed to have this feature, in my experience it never worked. Many times I've uploaded up to 3 or 4 GB of a very large file and felt the pain of having to start all over again. Without ultrafast broadband this is a real problem - it would be fantastic if the new features works properly.

    (3) A couple of new options have been added to the creation tools at www.youtube.com/create

    (4) You can now convert 2D videos to 3D with a single click. Yikes . Oh well, at least the first three announcements were good news!
