    picture file format

Hello everyone I'm new in non-linear editing... I would like to ask what's the best picture file format to be used on video editing... will it have the same quality if I use different file formats e.g. JPG, BMP and so on... Thanks a lot!

    Hi gizmo,
Sorry to say your question is just a little too broad. There's really no, "best format" per se. Is this for web? Broadcasting? Theater release? Television and/or cablecasting? DVD authoring? Personal home VCD or DVD-RW? How it is to be used (and/or which industry) will determine how it should be created or saved.

It's a wide variety of formats and you can blame the developers because they create where there is no standard - they wanna be the standard.
