    VCD burning & DVD player

(1)Have captured from my sony MDV to my computer using Ulead Video Studio 8 in AVI format then converted to MPEG VCD (PAL) format. I found that the files size are bigger than my 700 MB CD-R.
    - How can I estimate the size of the to-be MPEG file size before creating it?
    - If I edit an MPEG file, is there a need to reprocess it into MPEG again? This is because I believe some compression standards store "file overview" data at the front or at the back of the file.

    (2) My LG DVD player cannot read DVD and VCD but only read CD. What is the problem ?

You should be able to specify the bitrate of the MPG file when you save/encode it. From this you should be able to estimate the resulting size (bitrate per second x total seconds).

I believe the file will be re-encoded when you save as MPEG.

Do you know which DVD formats your player supports? Are you trying to play +R, -R, etc?
