    Can the following be done.

    Hi,

I recently rewire my microphone cable to a new XLR connector in a balance audio signal. My question here, how can I know which core wire is +ve and which is -ve. Or it doesn't really matters.

The following can be done, and if you look about the mediacollage tutorial pages, this is explained.
    try the following link:

    does this answere you question.

in that pin 2 is always hot(+ve).

if your just witing the cable, and not the inside of the mic, just as long as pin 1 is connected to the shield. then pins 2 and 3 must use the same wire to connect to Pin 2 on either end of the cable, it should work. The same is true for pin 3.

Re: Can the following be done.

    Hi thanks rick for replying,

    Well on the following link:
    http://www.mediacollege.com/audio/co...on/cables.html

It seems that in the picture for the one pair/shielded cable, the red wire is label as +ve and the white as -ve. So just wondering I should do it the same, cos I've wired my cable as the opposite. If it doesn't really matters then I just leave mine as it is.
