    Drop Frame Problems

    Im runnig final cut 4.5 with a canon xl1, and i keep getting messages after 3 sec that there is a problem with drop frame and my capture fails.
    anyone that could help would be awesome

    I once had the same problem with Panasonic MD9000 and I solved it putting another hard disk for the capture and 512 MB of ram.

    Remember to deactivate the antivirus and spyware.

    Capturing is very memory intensive and hard drive hungry. Disableing antivirus can help. I found the hotter the video card the better with plenty of memory on the card. I have the best luck with nvidia. Also a raid drive setup can make capturing run a lot smoother. Make sure all your drivers are up to date and no programs running in the background (including screensavers). Fire wire over USB is always the better choice.
    Your PC needs to have the fastest processor you can afford with at least 1gig of memory.
