Can you be more specific? Exactly how have you set it up and exactly what happens?

Also, there is more than one DV7000. I'm pretty sure Sony and Nikai both make a DV7000 - can you tell us the brand?

I'm afraid I don't know anything about that brand, in fact I had never heard of them until today.

I'm guessing you are using the software that came with the camcorder. Is that correct?

If you're using Windows, you could try going to your Control Panel, then under System>Hardware look for Universal Serial Bus Controllers. Right-click and select "Scan for hardware changes". See if that finds your camcorder.

As a last resort you could try to contact the manufacturer and ask for help:

zoe_wilson since we have no clue if you are on a PC or a Mac, i like dave would assume a PC, however if you are on a Mac, go to the apple menu, then system preferences, and if you are on OSX Tiger, then you go to Web cam Preferences. there you can take care of all the computer settings to make sure that the problem is not a computer problem. Also how are you trying to hook it up? if there is a Firewire option on your computer and on your camera, GO THAT ROUT!!!!
