    Sorry, but I need help......

I know you guys get this ALOT, but here goes:

I have a webcam that only records in .avi format, and when I upload it to Geocities.com, I cannot play it on Windows Media Player or anything. Plus when I open it (uploaded) I get a long list of code and nothing works.

Is it a faulty format? .avi works fine on Windows Media Player in the desktop, opened with Internet Explorer, but when I upload the file it does'nt work.

So would it fix my problem if I downloaded SUPER and converted to something ellse?

BTW, I read EVERYTHING on this site, cant find solution. So my question is: Is it possible to stream a video totaly free? this site says to upload to some expensive server and use some expensive software to encoad and upload. My .avi movie is me playing on a guitar, and is only 1.91mb and miniscule resolution. Like I said, I uploaded movie without any software, used the exact code this site says, and am wondering if it can be done free to a nice, common, player like windows media player.

I did my homework, but I still have problems.

I would do ANYTHING to get my crumby movie to work on my crumby site. Please help fulfill this newbe's dream. Free if u dont mind.

"...this site says to upload to some expensive server and use some expensive software to encoad and upload..."

That is only true if you want lots of control over what you are doing, and not minding the possibility of the server on your uploaded site closing down for a while to do maintanence.

    Try http://photobucket.com/

Note: I think they do accept .avi and will reconvert for you, if not pls do read up on what formats they rec'd.

An example of it being streamed on a blog (done up by my colleague) as follows:
    http://www.projectserve.blogspot.com/ (click play)
There's no bad camera, just a bad user
    Loong . Singapore

Sounds like either the geocities server doesn't have the AVI mimetype associated with AVI or you are uploading it as text not binary. I would guess the former. I'd suggest you host the video elsewhere (a free photo/video hosting site as nagar suggested would work) and simply link to it.
