    Re: How to Make a Search Form With Multiple Search

    Good question.

    In the JavaScript function, replace the following line:
    window.location.href = submitto;

    with:
    window.open(submitto);

    I've updated our full instructions to include this option.

    Target Frame

    This works great. Is there a way to target search results to a frame?

    Thanks

    Replace the following line:
    window.location.href = submitto;
    with:
    window.framename.location.href = submitto;

    ...where "framename" is the name of the target frame.

    I don't usually use frames and I haven't tested this but it should work okay. Let me know if there's any problems.

    Thanks Dave. However, it doesn't want to work for me. Changing "frameset" to the actual framename doesn't work.
    I've tried tweaking the code a bit, but can't seem to get this to open up within a frame.

    Hey sorry Steve, I seem to have overlooked your message. If you're still stuck on this one let me know and I'll have another look. If you could give me an URL that would help as well.

    Dave, thanks for your help, but

    using:
    window.open(submitto);

    I can't make it to open multiple new windows when I select multiple searches at a time.
    Am I understanding something wrong?

    Our code doesn't actually allow for multiple simultaneous searches. Can you show us the code you're using?

    Dave,

    My form code goes:

    Code:
    <form name="searchform" onSubmit="return dosearch();">
    Search:
    <select name="sengines" size="4" multiple>
    <option value="http://www.google.com/search?q=" selected>Google</option>
    <option value="http://www.altavista.com/web/results?q=">Alta Vista</option>
    <option value="http://www.dogpile.com/info.dogpl/search/web/">Dogpile</option>
    <option value="http://search.yahoo.com/search?p=">Yahoo!</option>
    </select>
    For:
    <input type="text" name="searchterms">
    <input type="submit" name="SearchSubmit" value="Search">
    </form>

    So I don't have adequate javascript code for making multiple searches at the time. But is there any way to write such? Even better if all the results would be listed on only one page. I guess the latter requires a bit more complicated code, other than javascript ..
