    Panasonic Video Projector

The Tecnical College here is selling some of their old video projectors, a few of them have a large yellow/brown area in the middle of the projection. What causes this? Can it be fixed?

It could be that the LCD panels is failing due to heavy duty usage. It's not cheap to fix... may be more worthwhile to replace.

    Hello oostdik,

Somewhere along the light path there is a surface that cuts across this path. It's either a mirror or the heat absorption glass. This particular surface is discolored (due to it's age or usage) and needs to be replace to allow proper colorimetry of the projected image.

I don't know about the replacement lamp but it's possible that by changing the lamp will resolve this discoloration because the mirror or glass is part of the lamp housing that gets replaced. If not then it would need to be sent to Panasonic.

The Panasonic projection people are very friendly. Maybe they can shed some light on the replacement... (that was not an intentional pun )

Also, depending on the optics of the projector, this could simply be partially burned bulb glass from oils and/or sediment touching only part of the bulb (or from extended use without proper duty cycling)
