I'm starting to wonder how much more life can be left in the format of reality TV programmes that dupe participants into believing a false premise. I'm talking about shows like My Big Fat Obnoxious Fiance and others where the main participants don't know they are being set up.

There must be three or four popular shows airing right now where the joke is on those taking part. Pretty soon participants must start getting more suspicious. It's going to get harder for producers to convince new participants that they are being honest and the premise is genuine.

Or perhaps part of the game will be pretending that you believe the premise just to go along with it, or to try and outwit the producers. It could become a battle of second-guessing where neither participants nor producers ever really trust each other.
