Flash video: dvd to mpeg to flash?

    Hey everyone,

I'm in a bind and was wondering if i could get some help.
Im going to have a dvd with video on it.
I'd like to take the hour-long dvd and cut it up into
5-minute segments to be embedded into a custom flash player i have already designed. File size/bandwith is a concern since a lot of people will be viewing it.
Does anyone have ideas on how to best accomplish this goal?
I have pinnacle video-editing software at home.
I was thinking of taking the dvd, ripping it into an mpeg, using pinnacle to edit the segments, then import the mpegs into Flash MX.
Is that the best way to do it? does anyone have better suggestions?
Can you import an mpeg using pinnacle?
Any help on this matter would be tremendously appreciated.

    Flash video is good

Which version of Flash do you have? That's what will make the difference. To get good quality Flash video you need to convert the video to flv format, and to use the flv format in Flash you need Flash MX Professional.

Since this thread has been bumped I should point out that you don't actually need Flash any more to work with Flash video. There are converters and players available - see our Flash Video tutorials for more info.

Re: Flash video: dvd to mpeg to flash?

First, convert your dvd to mpeg with a tool.
Second, use a movie clipper to cut your mpeg file into several sections.
Third, convert the section your need to flash format such as swf or flv.
Here only offer a link to Video to Flash Encoder.
