    Wachowski's Speed Racer

The Wachowski Brothers (of The Matrix fame) are making a movie called Speed Racer in which they are reportedly employing a revolutionary new technique. The big news is that all parts of the frame will always be in focus. You can read more here:

One implication I haven't seen mentioned is for 3-D films. Currently, 3-D is somewhat compromised by the fact that although you can shift your focus between the foreground and background, only one of them was actually filmed in focus so you can't get the proper effect. In fact it's very off-putting. Imagine if we could create 3-D films where your focus could naturally move back and forth just like the real world.

BTW, I think 3-D films will experience a major revival sometime within the next generation, assuming a common technology can be finalised (I'm not talking about anaglyphic 3-D with glasses).

I often wonder what ever happened to Virtual Reality?.
With the cpu's & graphics these days it would be amazing.
Maybe too amazing in the way the some people may never come out of it (virtual reality land)
A guy walks into the psychiatrist wearing only cling film for shorts.
The shrink says, 'Well, I can clearly see you're nuts.'
