I must say, being in the business that I am, that free hosting accounts are very sketchy. I would never use one myself unless I really didn't care much about my site and I was only playing around with it to learn some things. If you are trying to start a business or building one for a business then this is the last place you want to go. By hosting with a paid provider you are guaranteed certain things that a free hosting account doesn't offer. For instance, my company provides hosting at a fee, which is a little bit more expensive than some, but I offer 100% uptime guaranteed and a support rep always there for you to answer any questions. Free hosting does not support any of that. It brings out the ol' saying, "you get what you pay for".

    free hosting

I would stay away from free domain names too. I just started doing web design and I found the best software for it at the hosting company I chose. I started a hosting account at Blackwire hosting and the package i chose came with web design software for free! i thought it would be crap like frontpage stuff but it's actually really good. that's the only "free" thing i got out of my hosting package but it was well worth it.

if you wanna check it out it's here:
