    Photoshop error message

I have been working on the same issues as the rest in this forum, my problem differs slightly. I set my transparent background, use my wand and hit delete... error message that says "Could not complete your request because smart image is not directly editable." The help button says nothing about this. If anyone knows... let me know. Thanks

I assume you mean "smart object" rather than "smart image". As the error message says, you can't edit smart objects in the same way as a normal layer. You'll need to rasterize the layer first.

If you want to preserve the smart object, duplicate the layer and make the original smart object invisible. Right-click the new layer in the layers palette and select "Rasterize Layer". Then you'll be able to edit it.
