    Phantom Power

    Hi Folks!

    M new here.

    m using Yamaha mg16/6fx so their is an option of phantom power. can i use that? and my inputs are XLR jack in 7 channels used for mic and 1/4" jack in 3 channels used for Guitar, Keyboard, Bass Guitar respectively.

    if i use will it effect the amplifier/speaker?

    You may wish to read your user's manual or http://www.mediacollege.com/audio/phantom-power/. Phantom Power has nothing to do with outputs.

    Hi zimik,

    Phantom power is only required by certain types of microphones (condenser mics). If you do not use condenser mics, keep the phantom power switched off. Phantom power is distributed on the XLR connections, so the 1/4" jacks are not affected. Hope this helps a bit.

    In general, yes, however it is possible for phantom power to run on 1/4" jacks so always be cautious when using devices that will die to phantom power.
