    You can't use gradiants with neither HTML or CSS. You can however create the markup needed, and apply the colors pixel-by-bixel. Thats however not adviced, you should instead create the gradiant in your favorite graphics tool, I.e Paint.NET, and apply it as a background either in the Header or the Body as required by the page.

    And how exactly are you planning to do your Flash movie? A transparent, and floating one??? So I can see your 'gradient background' .. or are you suggesting, to make the things worse, that, we could actually effect Flash behaviour inside the mark-up?

    Well Tony, I recall a question of yours a year ago, even could be further in past .. that was about the Flash basics and this one is also about the Flash basics.

    Go to your editor, set the movie big enough for launcing at 100% window size. In your timeline have your stationary layer in gradient and pull it to background, then tweak it if you like.

    You must have already been caught up with some latest Flex stuff by now, correct me if I'm wrong

    Alright, the other guy who talked about gradients in HTML - as a bonus here, I've got some IE only solution for you! Thanks to the Microsoft Filters and Transitions the following web page should be properly working on Internet Explorers. Although this was not the answer of question that was expected, any Flash movies should be playable on with a proper z-index value, and no CSS background values given to any of filtered HTML sections.

    notice: please check the code and see where these computer generated gradients are applicable as well as where they are not.

    Code:
    <html>
    <head>
    <style type="text/css">
    body 		{ filter:progid:DXImageTransform.Microsoft.Gradient(GradientType=0, StartColorStr='#0000ff', EndColorStr='#000000') }
    h1 			{ margin:0em 5px;font:normal 300 63px/36px garamond;filter:progid:DXImageTransform.Microsoft.Gradient(GradientType=0, StartColorStr='#0000ff', EndColorStr='#000000') }
    h1 i		{ position:absolute;top:0em;left:1em;font-size:19px;letter-spacing:1px;color:lightskyblue }

    ul 			{ list-style:none;margin:.50em auto }
    li			{ display:inline;margin-right:500px }
    li p 		{ position:absolute;width:500px;height:425px;padding:1em 3em 2em;border:.50em solid #00a;
    					filter:progid:DXImageTransform.Microsoft.Gradient(GradientType=1, StartColorStr='#000093', EndColorStr='#0a0a1a');border-width:.50em 0em .50em .50em;color:khaki }
    li.aux p{ filter:progid:DXImageTransform.Microsoft.Gradient(GradientType=1, StartColorStr='#1a0a0a', EndColorStr='#930000');border-width:.50em .50em .50em 0em;color:pink;border-left:1px solid black }
    img 		{ display:block;border:1px solid #fff }
    em 			{ display:block;margin:-1em 0.1em .25em;font-size:150%;color:white }
    </style>
    </head>
    <body>

    <h1><i>the</i> gradients</h1>
    <ul>
    	<li>
    		<p>

    I'm sure it will, tony; so far so good
    colors, your lay out, the visibility of stuff, phones, you don't get lost inside whereas you do in many other web sites.

    Besides, while checking your site, I've also had a very good opportunity to find out how obsolote 'cellular device' I actually had, right now. Take it easy.

    regards;
