    Live HD streaming

Anyone knows softwares and hardwares that do live HD streaming? Appreciate any information and details about live HD streaming, e.g. servers available, HW, SW, techniques, etc..

    Thanks Cata.

I more interested in live HD streaming to a network (HD video over IP)where end users can watch the stream on a stand alone player (and not through a third party or a service provider who offer e.g. web based streaming platforms).

Would be also great to know about the hardware, not only the cam, pc,etc..but also hardwares capable of encoding/decoding on-the-fly the live HD streams..

The best format is H.264/AAC for the streaming ingest to display

First and foremost , you really, really need a powerful workstation to encode H.264 HD streams . Specs: Quad Core2 Duo processor 3 GHZ,4GB RAM with a Graphics card like NVidia (2 GB RAM)

Hardward HD encoders are very expensive, You may use a software encoder which is free from Adobe (Adobe FMS 3.0 supports H.264/AAC encoding for Flash streaming) on your Workstation/Laptop

You can get a HD Video Capture card for your Workstation from Viewcast ,Connect your HD camera output to this capture card

You will then need a Media server of *adequate capacity* to ingest your HD streams , You need to select a h.264 compatible streaming server. thats my business,so i dont want to advertise here to break the forum rules!

You then need to configure a Flash player on a website to test the Live stream...Flash is good as it rules the major share in the market and is compatible to most of the OS and web browsers.
