    Photoshop Transparent Gradient

I have a need to create a transparent gradient in Photoshop. The attached file show a verys simple graphic: a green box that has been beveled and embossed in Photoshop. What I really need is a transparent gradient that makes the bar look like this when a color is applied behind it. In other words, I want to change the background color and always have the end result look like what's in the image - a raised bar.

I need three images: a left image (since the end of the bar is beveled and embossed); a right image (both of these would be 14x39 pixels) and a 1-pixel-wide by 39-pixel-high image that I can repeat in the x-direction.

My website skin allows me to change the background color at will, I just need the transparent gradients that are layered on top so that I can see through them to the color underneath, but the gradient gives the illusion of the button effect.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
