Hello I have a question about wiring cables. I'm trying to salvage an audio cable that was designed to carry an unbalanced signal, but was wired into an XLR connector. My idea was to take one of the ends and convert it into a mono plug male 1/4" and at the other end leave the female XLR so I could plug a mic into it. I'm not sure this is even possible, but if someone has any ideas please feel free to let me know.

To be honest I'm not sure how but I do know that I have one of these. One of my sound techs wanted to plug it into a guitar last night. So is it possible? Yes. How? Really not sure.

It is definitely posible and in fact i have done this many times so i don't have to spend more money on cables. the diagram to rewire is posted here
