    To Catch a Thief

I need to be careful what I say about this one since it's directed by an old friend, but hopefully she won't see this

"To Catch a Thief" (http://tvnz.co.nz/view/page/411312/534822) is a reality TV program which shows how burglars operate, with the intention of helping people prepare against such attacks.

This raises the question of how much good the program does versus the unwanted side-effect of teaching criminals how to be better burglars. A story today (http://www.stuff.co.nz/stuff/0,2106,...4a1860,00.html) highlights this concern as a man claims he was burglarized using the same techniques shown on the program a week earlier.

Although the program certainly does show viewers how to protect themselves better, I wonder how many people actually take the advice. Indeed, what percentage of the general population even watch the show, compared to the percentage of criminals who think they might pick up a few tips? I can see a potential argument that says criminals are getting more information than anyone else.

    An interesting situation.

In an unexpected twist, the show's presenter has been caught stealing a video camera. Not a good look
