Do speakers on SDI monitors mix embedded audio tracks?

We've been doing program objective assessment recently and when we playback some video tapes(dvcpro and imx) we found same audio signal were recorded on audio channel 1 and 2 but in opposite phase(we could see on the Lissajous figure). The audio was monitored on the built-in speaker of the video monitor. Here is the question:if the speaker mixes the two channel of audio(in opposite phase) embedded in the SDI video stream, should it be total silence?

I think it will work fine.

Two mono channels (of equal levels) that are 180 degrees out of phase being summed into a mono speaker can result in silence. If they are slightly off in level or phase, you can still detect audio that would be near silence.
