    Newbie- looking for resources

    Hi,

I've recently found an interest in video compositing and effects, and have been practicing my basics on Adobe After Effects via youtube and other tutorials.

I'm particularly curious about short video production such as corporate videos, or music videos, or promo videos such as titantron themes; or any such brief or short productions that can be produced individually or with a small team. Since there might be a few professionals on this forum, I was wondering if any of you could possibly share their workflow for a particular project via tutorials that could walk me through the entire process in brief. I am not enrolled in a film school so I'm finding it hard to avail of any internships either.

This maybe asking for too much, so in case if any of you are aware of any such tutorials or project walkthroughs that already exist, please share it with me. I'd really like to get to experience how professionals work on projects, from coming up with a concept or plan , how they go about deciding the content of a video , up to to final production.

I have to tell you quite honestly - you are asking a lot. To walk you through an entire process in brief, is not do-able. If it is - that person is going to be very rich!!

This is not the kind of forum where we have time to sit behind a computer and start recalling the projects we've worked on. I'm quite sure you may find some retired person from the industry that may have a blog site. I highly recommend you go straight for books and read about the directors, editors, and actors experiences. I love Alfred Hitchcock and I read a couple of his books on the movies he's worked on. Unfortunately, a lot of those books I had as a student before, are long gone.

But keep looking, I hope you can find the treasure you seek.

It's not exactly what you're looking for but you might find some useful information in the links from this page. As it happens I've just made a page about video production for non-profits which is kind of similar to what you're asking but with a leaning toward working with amateurs.

Hey, I don't have time to write down everything i've been doing - but here is a fantastic resource for Stock video: www.videvo.net all free, all HD.

Also, I recorded a few of my earlier client jobs on my blog ( which I never update, if only I had the time) but i'll link you so you can see if you'll learn anything.

Click the pictures to be taken to the job page.

    Good luck!
