What is a Spectrometer?

An instrument which measures the spectrum of light. Tecnically speaking, a spectrometer analyses the electromagnetic spectrum and measures the intensity of radiation as a function of wavelength (but you don't really need to know that).

Spectrometers are used in a wide range of applications from oceanography to Mars missions.
